HEAT PROTECTION – PAVATEX protects from the heat in summer
While winter time means having to deal with the cold, this changes in the summer when people want to find remedies against the heat. Hence, heat insulation materials not only need to block the cold but also create a comfortable thermal room climate. There are specific physical properties which have a positive effect on heat protection. Heat insulation materials need to possess a relatively high mass combined with a structure which allows storage of as much heat as possible for as long as possible. These properties make sure that the heat does not come directly inside but instead is stored in the roof and walls during the day from where it is dispersed during the night. more >
NOISE INSULATION – PAVATEX protects from airborne sound and impact sound
More and more people suffer from noise-related stress, even within their own four walls. Noiseless living conditions, however, are a prerequisite for being able to concentrate and relax at home. PAVATEX products keep all annoying noise outside. One of the greatest challenges in sound insulation is associated with lightweight construction with derived timber products. This factor needs to already be taken into consideration at the time of the selection of all materials. Compared to traditional insulating materials, wood fiber boards possess high mass facilitating sophisticated constructions from the sound technology point of view. PAVATEX products possess very good properties with regard to both the protection against airborne sound as well as impact sound across all frequency ranges. more >
FIRE PROTECTION – PAVATEX stays cooler in the case of fire
There is an especially high demand for shelter and security when it comes to fire and the hazards related to it. PAVATEX wood fiber insulating materials also fulfill the high legal requirements. more >
VAPOR PERMEABILITY
It is common knowledge that a balanced and healthy diet as well as the individual life style has major influence on one's health. Similar importance can be attributed to the environment that surrounds us. Increased levels of pollutants indoors can lead to chronic health problems for the residents, without being able to point out and ward off the causes right away. Climate and noise are detrimental to the overall sense of well-being. There are, however, additional factors: Mildew, house dust mites or chemical toxic substances, such as asbestos or formaldehyde, impair the general sense of well-being and health. This is why it is of vital importance to work with products that are demonstrably free from pollutants and to meet the modern engineering and construction requirements for a breathable and multifunctional building shell.
PAVATEX wood fiber boards are made using a wet manufacturing process and are thus purely organic. Our insulating materials with the environmental certification natureplus® contain no foreign bonding agents and are thus absolutely free from toxic substances.
Careful production enables Pavatex products to create a basis for non-vapour retarding construction, which permits the transport of moisture through the insulating material. The wood fibres possess a capillary conductivity which gives the wooden soft fibre panels their non-vapour retarding capacity.
Non-vapour retarding properties have the following important advantages:
• The transport of moisture through the construction element is better, thus preventing a higher level of condensation
• In critical situations in respect of construction physics, practical building error tolerances become possible
• A breathable building shell creates a noticeably pleasant, balanced room atmosphere
Minor emissions - indoor climate
The inhabitants of central Europe spend approx. 90 percent of the year in closed rooms. However, especially in living quarters health aspects are not yet accorded the importance they deserve. Yet damage to health through environmental burdens is increasing. For example, almost every third child suffers from allergies – and it is on the increase.
Over 18 million chemical combinations are known of which the majority have hardly been researched – just like their interactions. Headaches, tiredness, problems with concentrating, infections - the list is long, the causes often unknown. Experts speak of up to 70,000 different substances that can be detected in a building. Often it is poisons such as volatile organic compounds (VOC) in living areas which lead to the sick-building syndrome. Besides causing people to feel unwell, the problematic substances can also have serious consequences such as damage to organs or cancer.
Ecological building should not be limited to the sparing use of energy and resources, but must also concern itself with the problems of health in the home. But there are still building materials which pollute the air in our living quarters. Thus through their choice of materials the client and the architect can make a considerable contribution to healthy living. And what is more natural and therefore healthier than wood? PAVATEX produces its wood fibre insulating materials in the proven wet process where no synthetic additional substances are added. With its natural constituent wood – PAVATEX only uses low-emission firs and spruces – no emissions are to be expected in the air of living quarters from PAVATEX products. PAVATEX has tests carried out by independent institutes on environmental compatibility and the positive influence on health in the home at any time. Thus PAVATEX products are certified natureplus, the international sign of quality for sustained living-area and building products, which are tested for health, environment and function. In addition the ECO-TEST Yearbook 2007 awarded PAVATHERM, the wood fibre panel of PAVATEX, a “very good”.

SUSTAINABILITY
Climate protection affects everyone! Heating systems create warmth and provide a comfortable environment but, at the same time, also produce large amounts of carbon dioxide. On the industrial side, the technical optimisation of the prevention of heat loss is therefore one of the most urgent problems which needs to be resolved. Those who only take energy efficiency into consideration during the construction of a building envelope are falling short: multifunctional building envelopes are called for, which not only have efficient energy solutions, but must also offer methods of protection. A modern building must not only be as well-protected from summer heat as possible, but also from noise, and its construction should be capable of allowing condensation diffusion, thus ensuring a pleasant and healthy room climate. Energy efficiency is therefore not sufficient – an energy-effective building means a comfortable and healthy atmosphere and the optimised conservation of resources. By using PAVATEX wood fibre insulation, you can lower energy costs and reduce CO2 production, and bind it by the use of wood during construction. At the same time, your sense of well-being is increased, as PAVATEX wood fibre insulation guarantees an energy efficiency. The use of PAVATEX wood fibre insulation results in a high-quality building envelope which leads to an increase in value of the whole building in the long run.
ECOLOGY
PAVATEX wood fiber boards are produced without the addition of foreign bonding agents and are therefore free from toxins. The production of the raw material wood is closely related to the existence and maintenance of our forests and thus already constitutes an essential contribution to a healthy environment. Various PAVATEX products have already been awarded the natureplus® certification.
From production to disposal, PAVATEX products comply with all ecological requirements. The raw materials for the wood fiber insulating materials are slabs, chips and splinters of indigenous coniferous woods that are residual material in sawmills. The renewable raw material wood offers unlimited resources. The production process deliberately excludes the use of any flame retardants, fungicides and pesticides. The wood's own lignin serves as bonding agent, fulfilling this task already inside the tree and which makes the addition of extra and foreign bonding agents unnecessary. Independent institutions continuously monitor the consistent level of quality and the absence of any toxic substances.
PAVATEX boards are extremely resistant to age and can be used even after decades. Disposal is where it comes to full circle. Thanks to the natural ingredients, PAVATEX products can be recycled, composted and used thermally for energy generation.
Poorly insulated houses contribute significantly to the formation of carbon dioxide, one of the main causes for the greenhouse effect. PAVATEX wood fiber insulating materials play a considerable role in increasing the energy efficiency of buildings. Refurbishment of the building shell lowers energy consumption and the emission of carbon dioxide. Homeowners cannot go wrong with wood fiber insulating materials: They increase the sense of well-being, lower energy consumption and protect the environment.
Buildings make up for almost 20 percent of CO2 emissions, and among those predominantly old buildings. In Germany alone, three quarters of all buildings are more than 25 years old. Those buildings lose up to 60 % of their heat energy due to poor building insulation. Savings up to 80 % of the energy demand could be achieved as a result of remodelling measures from an energy standpoint. In Germany alone this is about €42 billion EUR in heating costs by 2020.
PAVATEX Wood fiber insulating materials are the perfect protection for building shells. Applied to various constructions with different levels of thickness, they easily achieve the required energy standard. Purely organic, our products are a valuable contribution to environmental protection. The use of the renewable material wood for construction is equivalent to lowering the CO2 levels. The CO2 contained inside the trees is also stored in the processed wood and this extends the positive effects of carbon storage of the forest.
Taking into consideration all known advantages (noise before heat , cold, noise) the renovation of buildings with PAVAZEX seen from an energy point of view not only offers increased living comfort but also an added ecological value.
